Judy Hockaday is the Howard County 911 Coordinator (Part-time Position). The 911 Office is responsible for all 911 addressing and road signs. The 911 Offices is upstairs in the Courthouse Annex Building.

We do our best to remind Howard County residents that personal property and commercial personal property must be assessed each year between January 1st and May 31st to avoid a late penalty. While commercials cannot be done by phone, personal property, such as vehicles, may be assessed by coming in or by calling the office. We are always glad to hear from Howard County. The County Clerk's Office is located in the Howard County Courthouse. The Clerk's Office is responsible for

The Howard County Collector Bryan McJunkins collects taxes for the county along with circuit court fines. Disbursements are make thereafter to either the County Treasurer or the appropriate entity. Tax books are open March 1st and payable by October 15th of each year. Taxes may be paid in installments. The first installment must be paid by the third Monday in April. The second by the third Monday in July and the final payment made by October 15th. Tax payments must be postmarked by October 15th to avoid penalties being applied.

The Chief Administrative officer is the Howard County Judge. The Judge officiates over the Quorum Court, has administrative and budgetary authority over county government operations. He is also, head of the Road and Sanitation Departments, Emergency Operations and appoints members to several county boards. The Judge and Office of Emergency Services determine burn bans for the county.
